Who we are :
Today the company is owned and operated by Rollo's sons Gary and Greg who have built up the company to its present market-leading position. their father's founding principals for quality, service and value are still there today and in fact are even more important as the company continues its growth into this millennium.
For fifty years now the Dutton family has been totally dedicated to the marine industry. This dedication started back in 1957 when Rollo Dutton started building dinghies as a hobby. His skill as a craftsman soon saw this blossom into a busy business in need of larger premises and staff to meet the increasing demand. Rollo's range of boats expanded to include runabouts and cabin boats up to 8 metres in length.
In the late sixties the increasing benefits of fibreglass boats caused a decline in the demand for plywood built craft. Rollo adapted to the new marketing opportunity to begin retailing new and used boats. This meant he had to move again and finally to the company's present site at 554 Te Rapa Road. Here the company has one of the largest marine showrooms in New Zealand offering a huge selelction of high quality boats, motors and chandlery. Names like Yamaha, Haines Hunter, Buccaneer, Senator Alloy Boats, Yamaha Jet Skis, Hutchwilco, Lowrance, Furuno, and DMW Trailers are all leaders in their respective markets.
Today Rollo's Marine with it's huge showroom has up to 75 new and used boats ranging in size up to 7 metres on display and a wide selection of new and used outboard motors. Their modern well-equipped service department is second to none in the Waikato. Highly skilled staff are able to service all types of outboards, inboards and jet skis. Two of their technicians have reached the pinnacle in their field being qualified as Master Technicians. There is no higher qualification in the industry.
