60 years of Rollo’s Marine – the Rollo’s Marine story

Since 1958 the Dutton family has been dedicated to the NZ marine industry.

Founded by Roland ‘Rollo’ Dutton, Rollo’s Boats was formed.

Firstly building pram dinghies and then runabouts and cabin cruisers, Rollo’s boats were timber and powered by makes/models such as Corvette, Zephyr, Vauxhall, Ford, and Dodge, all converted for work on the water.

10 years later fibreglass manufacture spelled the end of plywood boat building as we knew it.
182 Rollo’s plywood boats were produced.

So Rollo moved into marine retailing in a Te Rapa Road showroom where Rollo’s is still based today.
From there sons Gary & Greg built up the Rollo’s brand to be one of the leading dealers in the country and has gone from strength to strength.

Today they sell all the top brands in the marketplace – Haines Hunter, Fi-Glass, Senator and Smartwave boats. Along with Yamaha outboards and Yamaha WaveRunners.

They also have a first-class six bay service centre and a large yard.

Two Master Technicians have been with Rollo’s for 27 and 18 years respectively.

A true family business, ownership has always been important. Especially with the Dutton third generation Mark and Jared becoming shareholders in 2015, making Rollo’s family owned and operated for 60 years.

We look forward to the future, all while remembering and thanking the personnel that helped the Rollo’s brand reach this 60 year milestone.
